Tao Te Ching Poem
A collection of verses in English
I have been reading various translations of the Tao Te Ching for years. Almost all of the interpretations have their own beauty. I did not intend this endeavor to be positioned as another translation. Rather, I wanted to capture what I have always sensed as the minimalist essence of Tao. This is, to me, a minimalist poem.
In some cases that meant leaving out repetitive (tautological — thanks Thief) statements in order to remain spare.
The photos are (mostly) from various beaches around Vancouver Island, my current home. I’m nomadic, but Vancouver Island’s Jurassic feel and coffee-loving hippie culture always calls me back. Watch Island of the Sea Wolves, you’ll know why.
This poem is now finished, but I may update the photos as time allows (I have a much, much better camera now). All of the final additions to the series have been graciously published in The Lark (Thanks Denise).
I hope Tao purists and laymen alike appreciate it, and away we go…
